Meredith Visit, Spring, 2012

One of the more fun things that we do each Fall and Spring is to go over and have lunch with the Meredith College students that are studying in Sansepolcro.

I really can not say enough good things about this program.  I have recommended it to my younger college age relations.   I would recommend it to any woman in college now, no matter what age, no matter what college.  I wish it had been available when I was in college.

The program offers a full semester of classes that will apply towards general degree requirements and it teaches women to travel independently and safely.  It opens their minds to a whole world and changes their outlook on many things.  The students who have attended and that I have talked with all say that it is ‘a life changing experience’.  And all of it costs the same as a regular semester on campus at Meredith in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The program is self contained on two floors of a palazzo in Sansepolcro (one hour from Arezzo, two to three hours from Rome).  The classrooms, the dorm room, the dining facility and some of the faculty are all there.  There is no slacking off from class because the program director will just come and find the student and find out why they are not in class.  Through travel and all the challenges that it brings the students bond as a group and learn to be creative, problem solve in the real world and that they can do things, and fix things and make a difference.

It is an outstanding program.  If you are interested here is contact information.  http://www.meredith.edu/abroad/italy/default.htm

And for those of us that are past college age or maybe are male, there are shorter trips to learn and enjoy Italy.  http://www.meredith.edu/abroad/italy/twoweek.htm
