Bridges that orbit earth but end up in Paris and Italy
Yeah, I know. It looks like I just strung random words together. Not true. We were off to a sagra (there is something else we should be doing?) north of Arezzo in Castiglion Fibocchi. Along the way we passed through Buriano. We have driven past this sign before never taken the opportunity to stop. This time we did.
The claim is, that the bridge into town appears in the painting, The Mona Lisa.
The water is high from all the rains, but you can see the arches. Maybe it is the same bridge.
The inset photo shows the NASA astronauts who carried a silver model of the bridge into space (who knows why) and for 200 times the model (and presumably the astronauts) made a complete orbit of the earth. The model was then presented to the town.
See… I didn’t just string random words together.
