Foaming at the mouth

One of the truly odd things about living in Italy is that each day you just don’t know what you are going to see.  Some days I’m disgusted.  Some days I’m amazed.  But it is always an adventure.

Yes, a foaming plant.

Not just one plant but a few others.

Well of course I stuck my fingers right in it to figure out what was going on.  There was a bug.  I am sorry that I did not get a picture of the bug.   He was cute.  Almost cartoon character looking.  Small, very clean cut, two shades of green, angled, geometric with a pointed head and a very distinct orange eye.  He was so cute I did not kill him.  I just relocated him away from my garden.

I still don’t have the explanation about the foaming….

  1. Jane Mirko

    Mediterranean killer beetle???

  2. Ha, ha Jane, That’s funny. My friend Anne in Louisiana had already figured it out but replied in an email instead of a comment. Here it is

Froghopper, aka spittlebug. Which you have probably figured out by now.
Enjoyed the parade pics. Reminded me of Mardi Gras.
